Kaycee Tormoen MA, LPC, LSC

A young therapist mother with long brown hair smiling outdoors near Littleton, CO with a mountain landscape and cloudy sky in the background.

My passion lies in walking alongside clients through life's most transformative journeys by providing a safe, supportive, and grounded environment. With over a decade of combined experience in private practice and school counseling, I offer a unique perspective for those navigating the high-pressure transitions of young adulthood and college life, as well as the profound identity shifts of motherhood and the perinatal period.

I utilize a collaborative person-centered, CBT, and strengths-based approach to assist with anxiety, depression, and self-esteem. My practice is deeply informed by a certificate in Gender and Women’s Studies from UW-Madison, which integrates feminist theory into my work—allowing me to better support clients as they navigate the 'invisible load' of parenting burnout, birth trauma, and the evolving dynamics of adult relationships. I believe that every individual possesses unique strengths, and I find true purpose in tailoring my practice to meet you exactly where you are, ensuring a space where all identities and backgrounds feel seen, respected, and empowered.

I earned my Master’s in Counseling from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a Bachelor’s in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Outside of the therapeutic setting, I am a parent of young children, a partner, and a lifelong learner. As a dog lover who often incorporates my dog into sessions, I deeply understand the beautiful messiness of real life and remain committed to broadening my practice to provide the most insightful care possible.

Griz

Griz is a beloved member of my family and has been with us since he was rescued at just eight weeks old. Now a wise and gentle 10-year-old Black Lab, he has spent his entire life surrounded by love, making him an incredibly grounding presence in the counseling room. Through my animal-assisted services, Griz offers a steady, comforting anchor during sessions. His absolute favorite duty is sitting quietly at my clients' feet, happily accepting gentle pets whenever you need a moment to breathe, process, and regulate.

Unless you are meeting with me virtually, Griz will be right here in the office, ready to welcome you with his signature calm energy. He has an innate ability to sense the room's environment, providing a soft layer of comfort and connection that can make difficult conversations feel more approachable.

When he is off the clock, Griz is a true Colorado dog who loves embracing the great outdoors. You can usually find him swimming in mountain lakes, hiking on local trails, camping under the stars, or enthusiastically playing fetch. He is also a big fan of delicious treats and excels at taking long, well-deserved naps after a good day of supporting others.
